Jana Sevcikova was born in the town of Jesenik, where she lived until she was fifteen. Following her first year of study at Jesenik Grammar School, Jana moved to Prague, where she studied at Jan Kepler Grammar School. In 1981 she moved to the Netherlands, where she lived for 12 years. While in the Netherlands, she started a family and studied languages and cultural sciences. She also worked as a translator and interpreter. She returned to the Czech Republic in 1993, working as an interpreter for Dutch investors. It was at this time that she established TAAL in Prague.

Jana Sevcikova is a court-appointed translator and interpreter from Dutch/Flemish and also works for courts, the police and state institutions.
